If you know me well, you know how forgetful I am. I might remember the shittiest of details, but I will forget the most obvious of things. And it's not just about remembering facts, or what someone had said a few days back. I won't be able to remember what I had for breakfast today :P

But I am very, very cautious of things that are dear to me. I will vividly recall what you wore, what you spoke, what you are going through if we ever interact deeply. I will make sure that the duration our worlds interact, nothing can touch us. I will keep these memories close, and protect them at all costs. But if you are going to ask me very shallow details like, hey remember what we ate last time we had lunch? I will fail miserably. I can't do small talk. If we ever interact, I would take the discussion to deeper whys, to interesting hows. I can't help it. A curious cat perhaps?

But once I forgot my close friend's birthday. Not sure if any sin comes even close to that. Not that I value birthdays or anything (for that matter, I hate my day ), but it's a day to just let him remember that he is valued. Cared for. A gentle nudge. A good conversation and a good ol hug, does the trick I guess.

** Hence I write. I know that my brain might process things well it is not gonna store things. Hence I've made up a point to record them. I have 4 diaries in total.

  1. Daily Notes: day-to-day thinking goes here. What are to-dos, what am I gonna say in a meeting, what preparation am I gonna need to make things my way, etc
  2. Book Notes: a diary dedicated to storing book insights
  3. Movie Notes: a diary gifted by a friend, specifically for penning movie insights
  4. Papa Diary: This is reserved for eventful writing. I realized recording daily observations is mundane. Writing on events is much more feasible. This helps in grounding me on the journey. It also contains a list of all characters, people whom I look up to. I've told people, about who have crossed the bar and earned a space there

I believe that I care about a few things. But very deeply. Most of the things are trivial and negotiable. But the rest, the few; man overstating their importance is very difficult. Sounds like such an old guy talking, but I might've have mentioned this to you explicitly, quite a few times *hey, I love you value our interaction okay.

For 3 reasons:*
